Despite the gloomy weather, I’m so excited to be here in beautiful Miami for my first SEJ conference. I’m no stranger to Florida nor Miami, since I’m based in Tallahassee and have made countless trips to the South both for work and pleasure. There is so much to see, do and learn. On Tuesday I was able to tag along with SEJ Miami2011 Conference Chair Jeff Burnside for a trip to Fort Lauderdale for the Media Panel at the Reef Resilience Conference. It was a dynamic discussion with experts talking about the status of and threats to coral reef resources.
Today (Wednesday) I joined UM and SEJ instructors for hands-on-video training. I’m learning quite a bit and hope to put these skills to good use. There is so to look forward to including Secretary of the Interior ken Salazar’s discussion about what’s at stake for America’s economy and environment.
It seems so far away, but on Friday the SEJ Beat Dinners should be fun and informative, well at least my group! Check out the SEJ information table and join me for dinner with Chad Oppenheim, architect of award-winning and LEED-platinum projects, Oppenheim Architecture + Design.
Welcome to the Sunshine State!
